Rashid Johnson Mid-Career Survey 'A Poem for Deep Thinkers' Opens in Fort Worth

Artist Rashid Johnson will be the subject of a traveling mid-career survey exhibition, 'A Poem for Deep Thinkers,' opening at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The exhibition is scheduled to run from March 8 through September 27, 2026, and will feature nearly 90 works spanning painting, sculpture, photography, and video.

Johnson's practice engages with themes of art history, philosophy, Black popular culture, and the human psyche, exploring identity, masculinity, parenthood, and self-care. The survey will include black-soap paintings, spray-painted text pieces, assemblages, and works utilizing materials such as ceramic tile, mirror, and oil stick.

Following its presentation in Fort Worth, 'A Poem for Deep Thinkers' will continue its national tour, with a subsequent engagement scheduled from November 7, 2026, through April 25, 2027. This comprehensive exhibition aims to provide an in-depth look at Johnson's significant contributions to contemporary art.
