Ram Kumar, Untitled sold for $444,500, more than twice the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on March 17.
The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $374,500, equivalent to an annualized return of 9%. It last sold at auction in 2005 for $70,000 at Christie's.
Oil On Canvas, 43.5 x 68.9cm. The work has not been traded before.
