Pieter Brueghel the Younger, The Birdtrap sold for $1.63m (GBP1.19m), more than the low estimate at Christie's in London on July 1.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $1.45m, equivalent to an annualized return of 6%. It last sold at auction in 1991 for $184,200 at Ader Tajan.
