Pierre-Auguste Renoir, La Promenade au bord de la mer (Le Bois de la Chaise Noirmoutier) (1892) sold for $4.48m (HKD34.86m), more than one and a half times the low estimate at Christie's in Hong Kong on March 28.
The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $2.12m, equivalent to an annualized return of 11%. It last sold at auction in 2019 for $2.36m at Sotheby's.
