Phillips' White Glove Evening Sale of Modern & Contemporary Art on October 15 achieved £14.8 million, marking a 100% sell-through rate by both lot and value. This outcome occurred during Frieze week in London, reflecting market activity.
The sale saw new world auction records established for American artist Joseph Yaeger and Danish artist Eva Helene Pade. Yaeger's Once, always sold for $856,200 (£645,000). This sale follows a pattern where his works have exceeded auction house low estimates. Pade's Yellow Nights fetched $222,600 (£167,700). Her works have also frequently sold above initial estimates in the secondary market. Both works surpassed their high estimates.
Olivia Thornton, Phillips' Deputy Chairwoman, Modern & Contemporary Art, Europe, commented on the market during Frieze week. "It has been an exceptional week in London so far, with the energy of Frieze bringing real momentum to the market," she stated. Phillips' performance contributes to the market narrative during Frieze week.
