Phillips London Sale to Feature Banksy, Richter, and Photography Focus

Phillips has announced its upcoming Modern & Contemporary Art sale in London, scheduled for April 16, 2026, at 1pm BST. The auction, taking place at 30 Berkeley Square, will be led by significant works from Banksy and Gerhard Richter. A notable emphasis on photography is also integrated into the sale's offerings, presenting a broad overview of modern and contemporary artistic practice.

The sale will feature a diverse selection of works spanning painting, sculpture, and conceptual art. Beyond Banksy and Richter, artists such as Bernard Buffet, Andrew Cranston, and Tracey Emin are included. The selection further extends to figures from various international movements, including Cildo Meireles and Lygia Pape, representing the Neo-Concrete movement, and artists like Emily Kam Kngwarray.

In line with the focus on photography, the auction will present works by influential photographers including Robert Mapplethorpe and Irving Penn, alongside contemporary practitioners such as Mika Ninagawa. Other artists contributing to the sale's breadth include Jemima Murphy, Richard Long, Jaume Plensa, John Noestheden, and Anna Deller-Yee. A public viewing for the sale will be held at Phillips' 30 Berkeley Square location from April 9 to April 16, 2026.
