All the President's Men Head to Phillips Photographs Auction

Phillips has announced the highlights for its upcoming April Photographs Auctions in New York. The live sale is scheduled for 11 April, with an accompanying online auction running from 2 to 10 April.

Highlights include Tina Modotti’s 1927 still-life, Bandolier, Corn, Sickle and Edward Weston’s 1923 Nude (Tina on the Azotea), a seductive portrait of Modotti, the actress turned modernist photographer and activist.

Another top lots is Richard Avedon’s The Family (A Work in Progress), which was commissioned by Rolling Stone ahead of the U.S. presidential election and the country’s Bicentennial in 1976.

Other featured artists include Sebastião Salgado, Wolfgang Tillmans, Robert Frank, William Eggleston, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Cindy Sherman, Thomas Ruff, and Catherine Opie.
