Paul Klee, Alter Krieger (1929) sold for $108,800 (GBP83,000), more than the low estimate at Bonhams in London on April 3.
The sale was below the previous auction result by $76,200, realizing a 41% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2015 for $185,000 at Christie's.
Watercolour and charcoal on paper laid down on the artist's mount, 47.1 x 30.6cm. The work has been traded 8 times in the past.
