Paris Gets Back to Business

Paris springs back to life as the summer vacations wind down, with a wave of exhibition openings across the city.

In the city's commercial galleries, contemporary artists are out in force. Gagosian opens Waterfall tomorrow, September 3, a show of Jennifer Guidi’s latest paintings and works on paper exploring nature and inner landscapes.

Emma Prempeh makes her solo debut at Galerie Perrotin in Paris with her impressionistic works on identity and memory in a show titled The Domain of the Stranger.

Sergey Kononov's intimate depictions of friends and family go on show at Galerie Max Hetzler this week, while Zhuo Qi's exhibition, We Cannot Stop Birds of Ill Omen From Flying Over Our Heads, But Perhaps We Can Prevent Them From Nesting There, touches down at Galerie Les Filles du Calvaire. Austrian self-taught artist Josef Hofer's psychologically intense figurative works can be seen at Galerie Christian Berst.

Building through September, the city will reach peak activity with Paris Art Week in late October.
