Paleis Het Loo will host "State of Wander: Towards Environmental Restoration," a contemporary art exhibition opening on 16 April 2026 and running until 27 September 2026. This exhibition, curated to explore themes of environmental restoration, colonial histories, and ecological systems, features site-responsive works across the palace grounds in Apeldoorn.
The exhibition brings together eleven artists, including Antye Guenther, Bryony Dunne, Caitlin Berrigan, Clemens Driessen, Edward Clydesdale Thomson, and Terike Haapoja. Their contributions delve into complex interdependencies between humans and the natural world, prompting reflections on multispecies coexistence and cultural heritage within the context of the royal estate.
Works in "State of Wander" span various mediums, from ceramic and sculptural installations to sound installations, augmented reality, and textile works. Notable pieces include sugar sculptures, video projections, and scent installations, alongside a recycled-material pavilion. The diverse approaches aim to engage visitors with the historical and ecological narratives embedded within Paleis Het Loo's environment.
