The Dutch Royal Palace, Paleis Het Loo, has announced details for its upcoming contemporary art exhibition, "State of Wander: Towards Environmental Restoration." Scheduled to run from April 16 to September 27, 2026, the exhibition will present works that engage with the historical context of the royal residence while addressing contemporary environmental discourse.
The exhibition features contributions from a roster of national and international artists, including Antye Guenther, Bryony Dunne, Caitlin Berrigan, Clemens Driessen, Teodora Cecilia Buccilli, Edward Clydesdale Thomson, Gayatri Kodikal, Jan Christian Schulz, Marianna Maruyama, Rob Voerman, and Terike Haapoja. Their site-responsive works delve into themes such as ecological systems, colonial histories, conservation, climate instability, and multispecies coexistence.
Utilizing a range of mediums, the exhibition incorporates ceramic installations, sugar sculptures, augmented reality narratives, soundscapes, scent installations, textile works, and multichannel video. These diverse approaches aim to foster a cross-disciplinary examination of environmental restoration within the specific cultural heritage framework of Paleis Het Loo.
