Pacita Abad, Assaulting the Eye with Ecstasy (1984) sold for $389,100 (SGD495,300), more than four times the low estimate at Sotheby's in Singapore on January 25. The fabric paint on canvas, appliqued with embroidery, buttons, mirrors, trapuntoed and hand-sewn work has been traded twice in the past.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $231,100, a 125% rise.
