Olga de Amaral, Pueblo H (2011) sold for $3.12m, more than seven and a half times the low estimate at Christie's in New York on November 19. The linen, gesso, acrylic, Japanese paper and gold leaf work has been traded once in the past.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $1.96m, a 150% rise.
