Olga de Amaral, Imagen perdida 27 (1996) sold for $1.17m, more than three and a half times the low estimate at Phillips in New York on May 13. The handwoven linen and gold leaf work has not been traded before.

The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $469,900, a 67% rise.
