Nottingham Contemporary will host two new exhibitions opening June 6, 2026. The institution will present 'Chico da Silva: And the soul is for the birds' and 'Augustas Serapinas: Physical Culture', featuring works by Chico da Silva and Augustas Serapinas, respectively. Both exhibitions are scheduled to run through September 6, 2026.

Brazilian-Peruvian artist Chico da Silva's presentation, 'And the soul is for the birds', will delve into his distinctive integration of Indigenous mythology and folklore within his practice. His oeuvre, primarily in painting, gouache, and drawing, has previously been shown at Galerie Pour L'Art, Musée d‘Ethnographie, Galerie Jacques Massol, and notably, the São Paulo Art Biennial.

Concurrently, Lithuanian artist Augustas Serapinas will present 'Physical Culture', featuring a range of his sculptures, installations, and performance art. An alumnus of Vilnius Academy of Arts, Serapinas' work has been featured in significant international contexts including the Venice Biennale, Art Basel, Frieze art fair, and the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC) Vilnius, among others.
