The New Museum in New York City will offer a first look at its expanded facilities and new artistic programming during a press preview scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 10:00am to 2:00pm. This event precedes the official public opening of the new spaces and exhibitions on March 21, 2026.

The expansion features a new building designed by OMA, with Shohei Shigematsu as the partner in charge and Rem Koolhaas involved. The project involved architectural collaboration with Cooper Robertson and Corgan, building upon the museum's existing structure by SANAA. This development aims to integrate new galleries and public spaces into the institution's Bowery campus.

Accompanying the building's unveiling will be a series of new exhibitions and site-specific commissions. Featured artists include Sarah Lucas, Tschabalala Self, Klára Hosnedlová, Hito Steyerl, Teresita Fernández, Joan Jonas, Julie Mehretu, Cindy Sherman, and Kiki Smith. The programming will encompass a range of mediums, including sculpture, video installation, and other site-specific works.

The New Museum, located at 235 Bowery, New York, NY 10002, continues its focus on contemporary art. This expansion signifies a significant development for the institution, enhancing its capacity for exhibitions and public engagement.
