Nadia Saikali, Solitude (1983) sold for $119,900 (GBP89,300), more than two and a half times the low estimate at Bonhams in London on June 4. The oil on canvas work has not been traded before.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $35,900, a 42% rise.
