Mary Abbott, Southampton Sand (1969) sold for $209,500, more than six and a half times the low estimate at Christie's in New York on February 26. The oil and oil stick on canvas work has been traded once in the past.

The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $41,900, a 24% rise.
