Mark Rothko, Untitled (Season's Greetings) (1955), sold for $101,900 (GBP76,200), more than three and a half times the low estimate at Christie's in London on March 7.
The sale was below the previous auction result by $29,100, realizing a 22% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2014 for $131,000 at Sotheby's.
Gouache on coloured paper, 23.7 x 16.1cm. The work has been traded 7 times in the past.
