Man Ray, Noire et blanche (1935) sold for $2.87m (GBP2.11m), more than the low estimate at Sotheby's in London on June 24.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $2.54m, equivalent to an annualized return of 12%. It last sold at auction in 2007 for $330,000 at Sotheby's.
