M+ in Hong Kong has announced 'Lee Bul: From 1998 to Now,' a major survey exhibition of the pioneering artist Lee Bul. The exhibition is scheduled to run from 14 March to 9 August 2026 at the M+ West Gallery within the West Kowloon Cultural District, focusing on the artist's work produced from 1998 to the present.
The survey will encompass a range of mediums, including sculpture, installation, two-dimensional art, drawings, maquettes, and documentation of performance art. Lee Bul's practice consistently explores themes such as utopian modernity, the body and society, and the interplay between humanity and technology, as well as nature and civilisation. Her work also delves into figuration, gender, beauty, and philosophical reflections.
This exhibition is developed in collaboration with the Leeum Museum of Art. Supporting entities include HSBC, The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, the M+ Lee Bul Friends Circle, and the Korea Foundation. A publication co-produced with Thames & Hudson will accompany the exhibition.
