LUMA Arles has announced its 2026 program, with major exhibitions opening this spring and summer plus a performance by Patti Smith.
The first wave of exhibitions is led by Gerhard Richter's "Overpainted Photographs" in The Tower, while Camille Henrot will present "In the Veins", an immersive audio visual work. Both open on May 1 through to January 2027.
Julianknxx's "In Search of Incredible" will take place in its Underground space and in the LUMA archive "Hans Ulrich Obrist Archives Chapter 6 Zaha Hadid ‘I Think There Should Be No End to Experimentation'" will go on show.
In July, Patti Smith and Soundwalk Collective will present an immersive exhibition "CORRESPONDENCES" at La Grande Halle and Stan Douglas's "Bodies Never Lie" will be shown at La Mécanique Générale.
LUMA Arles is situated in the Parc des Ateliers, a former industrial and railway area on the edge of the city transformed by the Swiss art patron Maya Hoffman into a contemporary art destination.
The arts campus consists of historic industrial buildings, a gleaming tower designed by Frank Gehry set in landscaped parkland.
