Lisa Roet, The Cradle (also known as Orangutan Foot) (2007) sold for $52,800 (AUD73,600), more than the low estimate at Menzies in Melbourne on August 27. The bronze on powder coated stainless steel base work has not been traded before.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $8,709, a 19% rise.
