Lee Bontecou's "Plate 166" to Lead Phillips' May Modern & Contemporary Sale

Phillips will present a significant work by American artist Lee Bontecou, titled Plate 166, at its upcoming May Evening Sale of Modern & Contemporary Art. This two-dimensional piece, noted for its importance within the artist's oeuvre, is expected to attract considerable attention.

Plate 166 represents a pivotal example of Bontecou's exploration of abstract forms, often incorporating industrial materials and themes of universal concern. Her works, including her well-known steel relief sculptures, have been exhibited in major institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art, the Hammer Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
