Lars Von Trier Curates På Andras Axlar at Thielska Galleriet for 70th Birthday

Stockholm's Thielska Galleriet is set to host an autumn exhibition, På Andras Axlar: Lars Von Trier Kuraterar, curated by Danish film director Lars von Trier. The exhibition, which coincides with von Trier's 70th birthday in 2026, aims to delve into the visual inspirations that have shaped his cinematic oeuvre.

The central concept of the exhibition is to explore the artistic lineage and influences that have informed von Trier's work. As the director himself states, it will showcase the "family.” on whose shoulders he stands, suggesting a curated selection of artworks by various artists who have contributed to his visual vocabulary. This provides insight into the aesthetics behind his films, viewed through his curatorial lens.

A press viewing for the exhibition is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, from 10 AM–12 PM. The exhibition will open to the public, bringing together film and visual art in Stockholm.
