John Maclauchlan Milne, Island, Iona sold for $75,700 (GBP56,300), more than two and a half times the low estimate at Bonhams in Edinburgh on May 21.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $31,900, equivalent to an annualized return of 4%. It last sold at auction in 2013 for $43,800 at Bonhams.
