Joan Miro, Personnages et oiseau devant le soleil (1939) sold for $2.37m, more than five and a half times the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on November 20.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $1.77m, equivalent to an annualized return of 3%. It last sold at auction in 1990 for $600,000 at Sotheby's.
