Joan Miro, Peinture (1953), sold for $3.54m, less than the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on May 19.

The sale was below the previous auction result by $1.45m, realizing a 29% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2014 for $4.98m at Christie's.

Oil on canvas, 245.3 x 125.1cm. The work has been traded 8 times in the past.
