Jiajia Zhang's solo exhibition, titled "And in 2084, You are 62," is scheduled to open at Vontobel, Gotthardstrasse 43, in Zurich. The exhibition runs from June 5 to August 31, 2026, and coincides with Zhang being awarded the Art Vontobel Contemporary Photography Prize «A New Gaze 5». The prize selection was made by a jury comprising Sadie Plant, Georgina Casparis, Shirana Shahbazi, and Danaé Panchaud.
Zhang's winning project, "And in 2084, You are 62," explores themes of Swiss society, the future, and identity through a multimedia approach. The installation incorporates photography, video, sculptural elements, and text. This work, characteristic of Zhang's practice, delves into the complexities of contemporary existence and speculative futures.
Jiajia Zhang's work has been featured in a number of institutions and events including the Centre de la photographie Genève, ETH Zurich, the Swiss Institute New York, and the Singapore Biennale. Her practice often extends beyond traditional photography to encompass diverse media, reflecting a critical engagement with technology and societal structures.
