Jean Michel Moreau the Younger, The Arrival of the Queen at the Hôtel de Ville; and The Fireworks Display (1783) sold for $441,600 (EUR381,000), more than the low estimate at Christie's in Paris on March 25. The pen and black ink, grey wash work has not been traded before.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $267,100, a 150% rise.
The previous record was set by Passage de Marie-Antoinette a la naissance du Dauphin (Undated), which sold for $174,500 at Neret on March 24, 2006.
