Jean-Michel Basquiat, Foo (1982) sold for $1.97m, more than three times the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on May 16.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $1.95m, equivalent to an annualized return of 14%. It last sold at auction in 1992 for $25,100 at Perrin Royere Lajeunesse Vergez Honta.
