Jean-Michel Basquiat, Baby Boom (1982) sold for $23.41m, more than the low estimate at Christie's in New York on May 14.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $22.36m, equivalent to an annualized return of 13%. It last sold at auction in 2001 for $1.05m at Phillips.
