Jean Dubuffet Work Sells for $3.82m to Deliver a 1% Annualized Return

Jean Dubuffet, J'opterai pour l'e rreur (I will choose the mistake) (1963), sold for $3.82m (GBP2.86m), more than one and a half times the low estimate at Christie's in London on March 5.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $1.82m, equivalent to an annualized return of 1%. It last sold at auction in 1990 for $2m at Champin.

Oil on canvas, 113.5 x 145.5cm. The work has been traded 10 times in the past.
