Jasper Johns Retrospective Heads to Guggenheim Bilbao

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao has announced Jasper Johns: Night Driver a comprehensive survey of the American artist. This exhibition is due to open May 29 through October 12.

Curated by Enrique Juncosa, the exhibition will trace Johns's contributions across Pop art, Minimalism, and Conceptual Art. It will feature key works and iconic motifs like the American flag and numbers

The show also situates Johns's work within his professional and personal relationships with figures including Robert Rauschenberg, John Cage, and Merce Cunningham.

As well as paintings, sculptures, drawings, and prints, visitors will also encounter examples of the artist's books and stage designs to show the breadth of his artistic experimentation with around 140 works due to go on show.
