James Turrell, The Light Underneath (2006) sold for $660,000, more than five and a half times the low estimate at Sotheby's in Saudi Arabia on February 8. A unique work made of LED panels, glass wall, element labs versa drive and flash card, it has been traded twice in the past.
The sale beat Turrell's previous auction record by $264,300, a 66% rise.

The previous record was set by ORCA, BLUE-RED (1969), which sold for $395,700 at Sotheby's, Online on October 22, 2020. The work had been traded once in the past.
