Jagdish Swaminathan, Homage to Solzhenitsyn (Triptych) (1973) sold for $4.69m, more than four and a half times the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on March 17. The Oil on canvas work has not been traded before.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $3.7m, a 350% rise.
