Jacques Des Rousseaux, An elderly woman counting coins sold for $226,800, more than five and a half times the low estimate at Christie's in New York on May 20.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $197,100, equivalent to an annualized return of 6%. It last sold at auction in 1994 for $29,700 at Sotheby's.

Oil on canvas, 72.0 x 59.3cm. The work has been traded twice in the past.
