Jacob Lawrence, The Carpenters (1946) sold for $1.68m, more than twice the low estimate at Christie's in New York on November 20.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $702,800, equivalent to an annualized return of 8%. It last sold at auction in 2019 for $980,000 at Sotheby's.
