J.M.W. Turner, Lake Brienz, with the setting Moon sold for $1.04m (GBP756,000), more than the low estimate at Christie's in London on July 1.

The sale was below the previous auction result by $251,600, realizing a 19% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2021 for $1.29m at Sotheby's.

Pencil and watercolour with scratching out on paper, 24.7 x 36.6cm. The work has been traded 11 times in the past.
