Hoang Tich Chu, La Haute-Région du Tonkin (Tonkinese Upper Region) (1950) sold for $940,700 (HKD7.37m), more than four and a half times the low estimate at Christie's in Hong Kong on March 28. The lacquer on panel work has been traded twice in the past.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $620,000, a 175% rise.
