Hippolyte Petitjean, Bather Reclining by the Water (1917) sold for $280,800 (EUR241,300), more than nine and a half times the low estimate at Christie's in Paris on June 3. The oil on canvas work has been traded once in the past.

The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $137,800, a 96% rise.
