High Line Announces Next Commissions

New York's High Line has announced its fall 2026 art commissions, featuring new sculptures by Marianna Simnett, Amol K. Patil, and Alvaro Barrington, alongside a billboard installation by Christopher Williams.

Simnett will contribute a sculpture that continues her exploration of the body as a site of transformation and vulnerability. Patil’s sculpture extends his family’s legacy of creative resistance, drawing on his grandfather’s folk poetry and his father’s avant-garde playwriting to address labor, caste, and social structures.

Barrington’s work often incorporates unconventional materials and engages with cultural and social histories, while Williams’s billboard at 18th Street and 10th Avenue will draw on his signature style of meticulously composed images that critically examine media and consumer culture.

The High Line’s director, Cecilia Alemani, said: “Each of this fall’s commissions considers our relationships to various forms of labor and each other, in revealing and startling ways.”
