Gunther Gerzso, Paisaje arcaico (1956) sold for $900,000, more than twice the low estimate at Sotheby's in New York on November 19. The oil on Masonite work has been traded twice in the past.
The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $279,200, a 44% rise.
