The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, in collaboration with the BBVA Foundation, will present a significant retrospective titled 'Jasper Johns: Night Driver' from May 29 to October 12, 2026. The exhibition will showcase approximately 140 works, offering an extensive overview of Johns's career.

The exhibition will trace Johns's groundbreaking contributions to art, spanning his innovative approach to Pop art, Minimalism, and Conceptual Art. Works on display will include paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, an artist's book, and stage designs, illustrating his exploration of common objects and symbols, such as the American flag, targets, and numbers, transforming everyday imagery into complex artistic statements.

Johns's work is recognized for its profound influence on 20th-century art, challenging conventional notions of representation and authorship. His associations with figures like Robert Rauschenberg, John Cage, and Merce Cunningham contextualize his pivotal role in the American avant-garde movement. The retrospective aims to provide insight into his consistent formal experimentation and intellectual rigor.
