Giuseppe Zocchi Work Sells for $1m But Delivers a 49% Negative Return

Giuseppe Zocchi, Florence, looking South with a view of the Piazza della Signoria with the Palazzo Vecchio and the Loggia dei Lanzi sold for $1.01m, more than the low estimate at Christie's in New York on February 5.

The sale was below the previous auction result by $998,300, realizing a 49% negative return. It last sold at auction in 2003 for $2.01m at Sotheby's.

Oil On Canvas, 57.8 x 87.3cm. The work has been traded 10 times in the past.
