Giorgio Morandi, Natura morta (1952) sold for $3m, more than two and a half times the low estimate at Christie's in New York on November 17.

The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $2.85m, equivalent to an annualized return of 7%. It last sold at auction in 1983 for $150,000 at Christie's.

Oil on canvas, 35.2 x 45.8cm. The work has been traded twice in the past.
