Giorgio de Chirico, Guerrieri in combattimento (Warriors in Battle) (1936), sold for $51,200 (GBP38,400), more than one and a half times the low estimate at Sotheby's in London on March 5.
The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $29,200, equivalent to an annualized return of 3%. It last sold at auction in 1999 for $22,000 at Christie's.
Tempera on paper, 21.5 x 34.0cm. The work has been traded twice in the past.
