Ganesh Pyne, The Fisherman (1979) sold for $5.13m (GBP3.83m), more than 15 times the low estimate at Christie's in London on June 11. The tempera on canvas work has been traded twice in the past.

The sale beat the artist’s previous auction record by $2.61m, a 100% rise.
