Gabriele Munter, Vor der Kirche (1931), sold for $265,400 (EUR228,600), more than one and a half times the low estimate at Kunsthaus Lempertz in Cologne on June 5.
The sale beat the previous auction result for this work by $176,000, equivalent to an annualized return of 3%. It last sold at auction in 1997 for $89,400 at Christie's.
Oil on card, 32.7 x 40.8cm. The work has not been traded before.
