Basel's Fondation Beyeler has announced the phased inauguration of its long-planned expansion with with initial celebrations commencing this autumn and a full public opening slated for January 2027. The expansion includes an annex designed by Peter Zumthor and a significant increase in its parkland setting.

The new building complement Renzo Piano's original structure, and significantly increases the institution's capacity for exhibitions. The development also effectively doubles the size of the institution's park, enhancing its outdoor exhibitions and events space.

The Swiss museum's program encompasses concerts, performances, artist talks, architect talks, film screenings, botanical programming, music-listening sessions as well as major exhibitions.

Long dominated by male artists in its galleries and exhibitions, the Beyeler's year-long program of exhibitions and cultural events features exhibitions dedicated to Ruth Asawa, Frida Kahlo, Louise Bourgeois, and Elizabeth Peyton.
